“Anguish” is definitely a good place to start for this book.
Miss Kyle has a way with words and descriptions. This is the first book I have read from her, she was recommended by a friend, and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. “Anguish” is definitely a good place to start for this book but it’s definitely not a “poor me” sob story. You can probably guess what the cause of the anguish was by the description or reading the prologue but you find out early what it is. The story doesn’t get boring, doesn’t feel dragged on and pulls you in emotionally. The sex is hot, hot, hot! It’s intense. It’s fun. It’s good, fire inducing sex.
The characters are clear in their thoughts and their inner emotional battles did not feel like a “poor me” whining which I feel happens too often. My biggest pet peeve specially with many books today is that characters get so whinny that I end up hating the story but I Ace and Tess did not sound whinny at all. I also liked their struggle to come to terms with their issues and love Ace’s dedication to Tess. The author does a good job of describing the emotional damage/depression the characters have. As far as character development, Miss Kyle has done a great job of it.
