Deadly Secrets by Misty Evans

It really is Blacklist meets Criminal Mind! As a fan of both shows I definitely see both concepts in this story.

This is the series that introduced me to Misty Evans and it is also one of my favorite romantic suspense series. The first book of the series has been my favorite so far but this might knock it off.

The story kept me guessing until the end. I would have given it a solid 5 star but the twist in the end seemed so out there. It made sense and it was hinted a little throughout the story but it just seemed too much of a 180 for me. I felt “thrown out of the loop” with the twist ending. No plot holes and tons of mystery with a plethora of sexy!

As usual, Misty Evens creates a story that pulls you in! What I love about her suspense is that she makes you feel like you’re part of the action. Whether it’s a heart pounding moment, a heartbreak or a car chase, she has a way with words that make you fell like you’re along for the ride.

I really enjoyed the characters. Misty Evans tends to have male heroes that are straight up alpha but Roman was a nice combination of alpha and sensitive. Her heroine is also my favorite in the series. One of the things I like about Misty Evans’ books is that her female characters are always so unforgettable. While her male heroes have similarities, her heroines are usually very unique. I never confuse characters because they’re memorable on their own. The supporting characters were also entertaining and seem younger than Cooper’s (earlier book’s in the series) teams. It made me think of working with millennials! I’ve you’ve ever seen the show Bull, the supporting team/characters made me think of his crew. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of them.

Overall, the story is well written and the characters were well developed. The story didn’t leave me with any questions in the end so it covered all of the issues it presented. The ending was a little short; I wanted more closure. I would definitely recommend the book to my book club when we get to the romantic suspense month!
